Blog Rush Lots of New Flavors

Online Gambler Sunday, September 23, 2007
Blog Rush will soon introduce flavors on their widget.

MORE NEWS…

It seems that some people are trying to call BlogRush a “pyramid scheme” or stating “there’s just no way the future impressions will ever be able to be served based on the promises of what referrals will bring. The math is impossible like other schemes of this kind.”

Anyone that is saying this doesn’t understand how BlogRush works…

EVERY SINGLE IMPRESSION GETS REWARDED FOR *THAT* IMPRESSION AS IT HAPPENS. There is no “promise” of future rewards based on referral activity today. Each and every impression of the widget (and impression of the 5 headlines per widget) is rewarded AS IT HAPPENS. And when all the math is said and done, it also leaves 1 out of every 10 headline spaces left-over for BlogRush to use to monetize the service. So apparently some people think it’s all based on false promises that the network will eventually “catch up” and pay rewards in the future. This just isn’t the case. Every single impression that occurs is calculated and rewarded to the generations ‘above’ — that’s how the math has to work.

We’re working hard to move to the 100% Manual Review Process as quickly as possible, and other improvements.

As I’ve now said many times, our SOLE FOCUS is helping our members generate quality, targeted traffic. So we’re hard at work to make that happen.

Drive More Traffic - Increase Commissions

Online Gambler Sunday, September 16, 2007
Every affiliate marketing program depends on the volume of visitors diverted to the affiliate program site. The more clicks, the more the chances of sales and hence more commission. The key is to attract more customers to your affiliate site.

    How to enhance traffic?

There are heavy duty books written on this subject but the answer lies in a fundamental truth. Customers will only visit your site if they think they’ll find what they’re looking for. Therefore the key is to make them believe that your site and product offers them what they want.

There are several ways to boost traffic to one’s site, such as:

Funny videos: Very often humor does the trick for an affiliate program. Use humor in videos to get a customer’s attention. Then lead them on to the affiliate program site. This method usually has a high success rate.

Flashy banner ads: Banner ads have always been great at getting a customer’s attention. No matter what the topic the customer is reading about – even if it’s molecular theory – banner ads will get a person’s attention.

Blogs: There’s a reason why even the billion dollar companies aren’t missing out on blogs. Blogs are free, they’re great for diverting traffic and best of all can do what even an advertisement can’t! Try putting interesting content in the blog. Follow this up with a ‘teaser’ in the resource box to lead the customer to the affiliate program site. You can use a creative promotional catch phrase in the ‘resource box’ that’s specially provided for this purpose.

SEO: Also known as Search Engine Optimization, this is a way to improve your search engine rankings. By using strategic keywords that are commonly searched for by customers, you improve your chances at being listed in the top 10 search results. This ensures more clicks by customers and hence more commission!

Classifieds: It literally pays to have well thought out classified advertisements on the product you’re trying to sell. Customers are sure to visit the affiliate site.

Cloaking links: Many affiliate marketing wizards will tell you this is one of the best ways to divert more traffic. Cloaking links basically means disguising the hyperlink to make it look like a URL to your own website. In actuality, it’s a link to the product you’re trying to sell. This ensures more clicks, which in turn means more commission.

Unbiased product reviews: You can also write neutral, unbiased product reviews to promote your product. By not being self promotional, you gain credibility and customers are more likely to visit the affiliate website.

Press releases: Press releases have been used to market a product since time immemorial. These serve to create a buzz around your product, always keep the interest factor alive and best of all, keep reminding customers about your product.

A little bit on SEO and keywords

A lot of research has been done on keyword usage. There are certain phrases or words that are more commonly searched for when compared to others. This is what determines a website’s popularity on search engine rankings. Having well-spaced, strategic keywords helps list your affiliate website within the top 10 search results. This means better visibility for your product, more clicks and more commission.

Nowadays there are several tools and resources to help you research on keywords. Try and go for moderately searched keywords. Using too many common keywords risks your website being lost in the crowd of competitors and using less popular keywords means your site may never be listed in the top 10 or 20 results.

Most organizations are spending top dollar to increase their SEO rankings. They’re even hiring agencies to help them in this effort. There are several third party agencies who help optimize a website for better search engine rankings. Especially in today’s fierce competition, being within the top 10 can really make a world of difference.

    Developing a Website

Online Gambler Thursday, September 13, 2007
One of the most important steps for a new business to take is to build a website. The reason for this is that a website provides a presence for your business on the Internet 24 hours a day, 365 a year. Because of this, anyone can access your companys information, buy products, and the like at any time they want anywhere in the world. This is very powerful. There are many benefits your company will realize from starting a website that includes saving money, more customers, convenience, a professional image and staying ahead of the competition.

You will save money when you start a website because this is the best form of marketing you can engage in. This is because your site is always available and can provide information to customers and potential customers that would otherwise require making contact via phone, e-mail, or regular mail and issuing a response. By including a link on your website to a page of frequently asked questions and answers you eliminate having to respond to similar multiple questions because the answers are already provided. This in itself saves time and money.

You want as many customers as possible, and having a website is an easy and economical way to attract more customers to you because the website does all of the work for you. Since the Internet is always available, your website and information regarding your business or products are always accessible by other people online. This allows so many people to reach you from all over the world at any time of the day. So, obviously starting a website is one of the most important things for you to do.

Because of this convenience, your website will garner more customers for you, especially if you have a detailed website. The reason for this is more and more frequently individuals use the Internet in order to search for information on a wide variety of things. So, if they are searching for what you offer and you have a website then you will have more customers. The day and age of yellow pages will soon be over because the generation of the Internet is growing up using this medium to find information. So, if you have a website you will offer Internet users the ability to find information online.

In addition to these many benefits, you will also be displaying a professional image if you have a website. The reason for this is a website shows you are serious about your business, about providing information to potential clients, and staying in touch with technology and the speed of business. You will want individuals to know your company is serious, so build a website in order to show your importance.

And one of the most important aspects of starting a website for your company is to remain competitive. If your competition has a website and your company does not, then that company is ahead of you and providing a better service to clients and potential customers. Because of this, you should make starting a website of your own a top priority. The best thing to do is check out the competitions websites, evaluate what are the positives and negatives of their sites, and then build your site even better in order to attract more customers. You will have to continuously update and add new information to stay competitive, but this is the best method. Dont get left behind in the Internet revolution, go ahead and get your website started today.

A Quick Guide To Web Directories

Online Gambler Monday, September 10, 2007
If you are a seasoned Internet marketer, then it is common knowledge that submitting to web directories can dramatically increase your page rank. If you are a newbie webmaster, then you might be quite in doubt as to how web directories can do for you. This article would relay to you what exactly is a web directory, how they work, and how you can use them in promoting your site. By the end of the article, I want you to go add your link to one of the web directories on the Internet and see how it would work for you.

    What are web directories?

Simply put, a Web Directory is a collection of web sites presented in a categorized format. I suppose that you know how Yellow Pages looks like, a web directory is pretty much the same thing, only this time websites are categorized in such a way that internet users can easily navigate through them and find the website that they need.

    How do web directories work?

A web directory submission is one type of marketing strategy you can employ. By simply adding your website in web directories it can dramatically increase your site’s exposure and your pagerank. Why so? Of course aside for submitting your website name, you would naturally add your website link or URL to the site. This constitute for one back link. What do you need outbound links for? Increasing the number of your outbound links would relatively increase your pagerank.

A pagerank simply refers to your position in search engines results. For instance, if an online user searches for "car parts", along with your SEO-content and bunch of good back links, you would likely hit the first few pages of the search results, thus increasing the exposure of your website. If back links are what you are after, then submitting your site to web directories is one effective way to get some.

Web directories are also one way of acquiring permanent links. Permanent links are very valuable since you would have your live link posted on web directories for good or at least during the lifetime of the web directory where you posted your link. It is important to take note though, that offering permanent links are still in the discretion of web directories owner.

Aside from improving your page rank, web directories are also a form of web advertising. In addition to using search engines, online users also rely on web directories to direct them to certain websites they are searching for. Since websites in web directories are categorized accordingly, navigating through them is easy and convenient. If for example one online user is about to buy bathroom tiles, he would probably go to the category under 'home improvement' and if your related site is under that, you are most likely to have an instant visitor, thus increasing your traffic. In the online world, traffic is everything. If you get more visitors drop by your site, then that means you have a number of potential clients, thus increasing your sales.

    Choosing a web directory

There are three types of web directories – free, paid and niche directories. Free web directories are, of course, the natural choice for webmasters with a tight budget. Some free web directories requires a reciprocal link and some don’t. Reciprocal links are simply links of the web directory's URL that you are required to post in your own site. It's a give and take concept. When you post your website to a web directory, you need to return the favor by posting their URL to your site as well.

The only drawback with some free directories is that they may not be properly maintained. Spam sites may find their way into these free directories because they may lack appropriate monitoring. Then again, there are free web directories that can offer as much quality links than paid directories.

If you have the budget for it, you can also opt to submit your site to paid directories. These types of websites may charge as low as $10 per year. Some popular directories, like Yahoo, can charge as high as $299 as annual fees. The rate that paid web directories charge is relative to the website's pagerank. If the web directory site you are submitting to have PR9, then prepare to shell out a big chunk of your advertising budget. A web directory with a PR3 or PR4 would normally charge low.

The third type of web directory is a niche web directory. These are web directory sites that cater to a particular group of websites. For instance, a web directory with the niche under "business" would only allow submission from business websites. Posting your websites into niche web directories would give you better hits since you have a bigger exposure to your target market.

    How to submit your website

First, you need to find a good web directory site. Check the web directory and be sure it does not contain several spam sites. One way to find out if spam sites are listed is by doing a search for terms like “Viagra”, “Sex” etc… If you notice a large number of search results, then that directory is not a good one. Because in worst-case scenario, your own website may even be penalized by some search engines.

The second thing you need to do is to choose the appropriate category where you should add your website to. You would get to your target audience better if you place your website in the right category. If not, you would not get much traffic from your possible visitors.

The next thing is to write a good description of your website. These are snippets that would describe what your website has to offer. Description should be short and catchy. It is also a good idea to make sure to write a good meaningful description as many directories do not approve websites with bad descriptions.

The last thing to do, which is very important and the part that is often take for granted, is to check if your link is working! You don't want to get your website URL misspelled or anything like that, hence the whole process would be to no avail.

Elliptical Trainer Reviews Dont Get The Facts Straight

    Online Gambler Saturday, September 8, 2007 ,
There are many misconceptions regarding elliptical trainers. I believe this is a result of the large number of elliptical trainer reviews Websites popping up on the Internet each and every day. In an effort to tout the benefits of elliptical training, Webmasters post the usual laundry list of the well-publicized advantages of elliptical trainers. In the process, like the old game of "Telephone", each time the message is repeated, it gets slightly or sometimes significantly garbled in the retelling.

To make matters even worse, sometimes medical and fitness professionals along with the manufacturers of elliptical trainers will give out unproven or even incorrect information. This article will address the most common misconceptions and inaccuracies regarding elliptical trainers.

    1. Elliptical trainers are zero impact fitness machines -- Since back here on the planet Earth where all mass is subject to the Law of Gravity you will still experience some impact when using an elliptical trainer. There's just no way around this. Not even in the zero gravity environment of outer space, since an elliptical requires gravity in order to work. I'm sure Sir Isaac Newton would be spinning in his grave if he knew how many times this misconception gets propagated.

Yes, elliptical trainers are LOW-impact machines and the impact is noticeably less than running on a treadmill, but there is still a small degree of impact. People who have knee injuries or chronic tendonitis in their knees may find that even the low impact forces of an elliptical trainer to be uncomfortable.

    2. Elliptical trainers are not weight bearing -- This is a corollary to Misconception #1. The fact that you are standing up on the foot pedals when using an elliptical trainer makes it a weight bearing exercise. Again the force of gravity is acting upon the mass of your body, which is supported by your legs. It's not the same as when you are seated on a stationary bike or rowing machine. Weight bearing exercises such as elliptical training are a good way to strengthen the bones in your lower back and hips.

    3. You need to workout longer on an elliptical trainer than on a treadmill because the higher impact of the treadmill causes you to expend more energy -- The goal of any aerobic exercise is to get your heart rate into an elevated state -- either in a fat-burning or cardio-conditioning zone and keep it there for the duration of your training session. Subjecting your joints to excessive impact in order to get there is just plain crazy! The way to do this is to get the large muscles of your lower body in motion and if you can also involve the muscles of your upper body by using the moveable handles of an elliptical trainer then so much the better.

    4. The upper body handles of an elliptical trainer are meant to build up the muscles of your upper body -- There is actually a small bit of truth to this belief, but the thing to remember is that cardio machines are aerobic in nature and are not very effective at building muscle. Save muscle building for your weight training sessions.

The real benefit of upper body handles on an elliptical trainer is to involve the muscles of your upper body in the exercise in order to get your heart rate up quicker. The more pieces you get working at the same time the more efficient the whole process becomes.

    5. It's possible to build a high-quality elliptical trainer using cheap components and cheap labor -- This is hands down the biggest misconception out there. It's mostly put forth by the fitness equipment manufacturers, but unfortunately many consumers fool themselves into believing it's true.

People certainly can't be faulted for wanting to save money and when faced with better quality ellipticals that sell for upwards of $800 and beyond, they settle for the $150 special from Wal-Mart. In most cases this turns out to be a purchasing decision they soon come to regret. The machine is unsteady and creaky and then just self-destructs after a short period of time.

The best advice is to take your time, do your homework and make an informed decision after weighing all of the risks against all of the benefits.

Getting Started on Your Own Digital Color Printing

    Online Gambler Thursday, September 6, 2007 ,

With the strict competitions in the world plus the need of every person to be abreast with the growing technology it is but necessary to learn things and do things on your own. Furthermore, being independent in life is needed to know more your own capabilities that would benefit yourself as well as other people.

Digital color printing sees to it that whatever you wanted to print will be according to your preferences provided that you have the needed materials and you know how. Now, you may assume that having your own printer and having your own printing needs be printed through digital color printing will be that expensive. It maybe that of higher price than that of the conventional way of printing but then you must consider the reliability and practicability of your printing process, beating the deadline is always a consideration. In the conventional way of doing so the printing cost is lower than digital color printing.

Another to consider is the quality of your own print results, remember you do it yourself so you must give your best shot in it. Printing your own materials is really cool but then you should take a look at different aspects too. Just like the colored inks and the paper and not to forget the layout and design. The ink that you should use will be compatible with the printer to achieve quality prints. There maybe inks that will not help you in printing instead will give you headache and a wasted printing job.

The correct choosing of paper to use with your printing needs is also important thing that should not be overlooked. Plus the design and layout of the thing that you will be printing make sure that it was already edited for final printing. Any mistake with printing materials would be just an added expense and a waste of time and effort.

Digital color printing by your own is lower than having it printed in printing shops. First and foremost, you will not just pay for the ink but also for the paper then the labor of the printer then the electricity plus the use of the digital printer. It will be costly on your part while you may think that it is lower since it will be printed in printing shops.

Digital color printing assures you that every detail in your material will be printed well since it is the primary aim of digital printing, to improve the printing results of the conventional ones and to have sharper and clearer images that is far behind the old way of printing. Digital color printing is what you need to have a hassle-free experience in printing.

Blogging Tips When Writing Content for your Blog Readers

    Online Gambler Tuesday, September 4, 2007 , ,
The common mistake that bloggers do is to go straight to writing after they're done constructing their blogs. This is definitely no problem is you have a clear idea of what you're suppose to write, who are you writing for and how you should write it. Writing content for your blog plays a crucial role to your blog's success and therefore, it requires skills and knowledge to do it.

Today's article focuses on writing good content for your blog readers and in order to do so we have to deal with these three questions:

    1. Who are you writing for?
    2. What are you suppose to write?
    3. How should you write it?

Millions of people surf the Internet everyday to look for some specific information. The information ranges from anarchism to zionism, the latest to the oldest, or from 0 to infinity. Given this case, bloggers have so much to blog about. Unfortunately, not every topic can be possibly covered by a single or a few bloggers. Even wikipedia does not have all the information in its database. Moreover, thousands of blogs or weblogs and websites are created everyday making the competition fiercer. What can we infer from these data? Simple. We need a strategic approach in blogging to secure our blog's survivability and success.

Who are you writing for? Blog Readers

Yes, I know that you are blogging for your blog readers but do you know who are your blog readers?

If you are blogging for everyone who visits the Internet then you lack strategic approach in blogging. If however, you have a specific target reader, then you'll probably be successful.

Because we cannot cater to every netizen, the need to segment them arises. I call it Concentrated Blogging. Concentrated Blogging is the process of segmenting or subdividing blog readers to identify a specific segment or subdivision where you can leverage your blog. Concentrated Blogging allows bloggers to focus writing to a specific group of people. Catering to a specific group of people provides the benefit of being able to understand them better, know what they need, what they want etc.

Let's take the case of bloggingmix.com. For my blog, I have decided to write about blogging for bloggers. But bloggers can still be further subdivided into beginners, intermediate, and experts. I've finally decided to write for beginners and intermediate bloggers because I believe I know them better. I have been in the stage of starting my own blog and developing it so I know the needs and wants of beginners and intermediate bloggers.

What are you suppose to write? Quality Information for Blog Readers

What do you think will happen to bloggingmix.com if I start to write about my favorite color or when I blog about my friend's friend's dog? I'm sure, by the time I know it, my blog readers found a better blog that will provide them information about blogging. This is where the idea of continuity (consistency), one of the 3Cs of blogging, comes in. Details about continuity will be discussed thoroughly in the succeeding articles.

People go on-line to search the Internet for Quality Information, information that they need, relevant and useful to them. If you don't have it, expect that there will be few people who will be visiting your blog. Or you might not have any visitors at all. So what are you suppose to write? The answer is obvious. You should write about something that your readers need and want. It should not be a bunch of useless article but rather informative, relevant and useful to them. Try to do this in your blog and see how amazing quality information can do to it.

I have to say however that writing about your personal experiences, or personal stuffs about yourself is not wrong. This is of course assuming that your target readers are limited to your family, relatives and friends. Otherwise, you need to be very controversial or popular for people to be curious and become interested of your life.

How should you write your blog entries? Consider the Nature of your Blog Readers

If you are blogging for Investors then it's perfectly fine to use terms such as Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return, Discounted Cash Flow etc. But if your blog is dedicated to the average Joe, there's simply no need of using panoplies of multi-syllabic words and quintessential examples if you can decipher the intricacies of your thoughts into fundamental ideas that everybody can comprehend. In short, your objective as a blogger is to send the message across to your target blog readers. Failure to do so, is failed blogging.

There are several ways that bloggers write. Darren Rowse of Problogger.com writes short articles while Steve Pavlina of StevePavlina.com writes elaborate and long articles. Both of them are successful bloggers but their ways of blogging are different. What does this have to tell you about how to write blog posts? Simple. Writing for your blog should not necessarily be elaborate or short… the bottom line is Quality Information. My advice is write freely and objectively. If your topic calls for an elaborate writing, then elaborate is should be but if you don't need too much words to make yourself clear and send your message across, then say it briefly.

In my succeeding articles, I will be writing about how to write search-engine-friendly blog posts. Your primary priority is to blog for your readers and second on the lists are search engines. I'm sure that you are aware that search engines (i.e. Google, MSN, Allthewebs, Lycos etc.) are great sources of traffic for your blog, hence, you should write your blog entries in such a way that it pleases these search engines. Watch out how in the coming posts.

If you have found this article useful, I hope you take the time to share it with others by Digging it, or bookmarking it. I will also appreciate if you take the time to leave your comments or tell us what you think about this article.

Is Your Web Copy "Plain Talk"?

Online Gambler Sunday, September 2, 2007

It's true, we were all taught in school to express ourselves differently on paper, than the way we speak. To follow rules of grammar, and inject an artificial air of formality.

Forgetting about this training when you write web copy is one of the best thing you can possibly do, unless you’re selling to the academic community. And forgetting about it may not be as easy as you think.

Do you write like you’re speaking to a friend across the table?

Maybe even use a little slang, now & then?

Or do you worry about your high school English teacher committing suicide, if he or she were to ever stumble across your stuff?

If so, do yourself a favor. Get over it.

Marketing Communications should never be about trying to impress. Prospects should never have to think about what the heck you’re trying to say.

    So keep your sentences short.

    Avoid big words.

Keep plenty of free space around your copy, so it looks easy.

The mind can only really think of one thing at a time. If you want your prospect to concentrate on something, make sure your points don’t require more than a split second to understand.

Look at the below example, taken from an ad for a special day care course for kids. It's put on by a government agency that promotes apple agriculture in their region.

The point of the text is this. “Bring your kids here, because we’ll teach them something, instead of just baby-sitting them”.

Read the example, and then the revision in plain talk.

    EXAMPLE

This program encourages students to conduct simple investigations of apples. Students experiment, observe, and keep records as they become 'immersed" in a multi-sensory study of apples. Students will make notes in learning logs as they investigate and discuss the activities. In the learning logs the students simply record what happened during the activities and their reactions to what happened.

Students may later use their notes as the basis for language arts activities, such as writing poems. Writing first serves as a tool for learning and later becomes one of the possible end-products of the lessons.

    PLAIN TALK REVISION

Hey Mom and Dad, kids love to learn about apples. They’re naturally curious, and learn best by tasting, smelling, squeezing, rolling, & tossing.

    It’s so much fun.

They love sharing the experience with their classmates, and can’t wait to write home about what happened. And the feelings they express in the special diaries we give them are priceless.

You’ll be giving your kids a head start at putting their thoughts down on paper. One of life’s most important skills.

And what better way to get them out of your hair for a while?

    Can you dig the difference?

I do a lot of work in the computer networking field, and often need to read product specs & documentation. And it drives me nuts!

Why is this stuff so full of techno babble, hyperbole, and long-winded bafflegab? Is all of the rocket science talk supposed to impress me into wanting to do something with their gadgetry?

Almost every product or service imaginable has a technical side, and you can never over educate. But it shouldn’t feel like school.

Maybe you think you’re selling a commodity, and there’s not much to the customer’s decision, but price. Think again. There is always a technical differentiator.

One of the greatest skills you can acquire is to be able to boil the froth off complex concepts, so that they become easy to understand.

Customers crave facts, and proof, even logic in order to feel comfortable with their decisions, once you’ve stirred up their emotional desire.

Inject them painlessly with web copy that comes across as “plain talk”!
